Event cards are a set of special cards that affect the entire playing field and either hinders the players of helps them. At the start of the first player's turn, an event card is played and both players must follow the effects stated on that card until a new event card is played which will occur on the next turn of the player who went first at the start. Action cards are cards from another deck of cards needed to play Pacman Legacy. At the start of the game, both players will draw 5 cards from the Action Deck as their starting hand. After that, at teh start of each player's Draw Phase, that player draws a card from the Action deck except in the case of the event card, Bloodlust in effect. The other way to access the shop is that the event card, shop day. Both shops sell various items that will help boost the attack and armour of the player that buys them. Players use the gold they gain from defeating monsters to purchase monsters to purchase items from the shop. Items that the player buy cannot be stacked with other items that boosts the same stat. The Trials of the Horoscopes

The Trials of the Horoscopes

This game was design base of the idea of horoscopes.

Start page

1st Level
Collecting 30 treasures and keep it till the time runs out! If the sheep touches you, you would lose 3 treasures!

2nd Level
Destroying the target boards would let you gain entry to your next stage without having to touch the lightning barrier!

3rd Level
Get both of yourselves to the gate within one minute to go to the next level! Time is ticking!

4th Level
Find your way to the gate with the fog of sand hindering you!

5th Level
Move the boulder to clear your way and get to the door!

And...

I did all the programming in this game. The designs for all the levels are more of the classicial types of games.

Yeap, as the picture suggest… the game is still under development. The game you see now was done within 16hours. The whole finished game should have 13 levels. The intended idea was having the a trail for each of the horoscope and design it to cater the characteristic of the horoscope and then each level are indiviual game experience then having another real room for the horoscope for the real try of using that characterstic to clear that level. Also the last and final room would be the combination of all 12 horoscope combine into 1. Meaning that all the 12 different gameplay combines into 1 and challenge the player to the ultimate level.

And since the game was really rushed out, all my level hasn’t been polish yet.

Elemental Checkers

Elemental Checkers

This game was orginally suppose to be inspired from checkers but due to the mass progress in the game design, the only thing that is still link to checkers is just the board and the way it moves.

The board of the game

A sample layout of the units

This is a two player game. Basically, the yellow unit with a black cross and the red unit with a black cross is the base of the two players. The main objective of the game is to kill the base. They are 4 types of different colours of unit that hits differently depending on the colour. Each normal unit can take 2 hit while the base can take 3 hit. (The base cannot attack) There’s no way of regaining health for any units. Notice that they are also 4 arrows. By entering the arrow, you gain a chance of making your normal unit to a level 2 unit by rolling a 5 or a 6. Rolling a 1 or 2 will get your unit destroyed and rolling a 3 or 4 means no changes.

Two examples of the four different units in my game

The attack range for the red element colour unit

*The red highlighted tiles are the available target areas

The attack range for the yellow element colour unit

*The yellow highlighted tiles are the available target areas

The start of the game would be rolling a D4 to see which of the 4 colour unit you are using. The basic gameplay is that each player has movement and attack per turn. (There’s friendly fire in this game) The units can only move one horizontal space. The attack, like I said above, would depend on which colour you are. Your objective is to destroy the enemy’s base and you will win the game. After the movement and attack action, it would be the base action phrase, which I haven’t mentioned. The base can make a movement and the player has the ability to spawn their respective units at the four horizontal spaces around the base. At any point of time, you cannot control more than an army of 6. A normal unit is an army of 1 while a level 2 unit is an army of 2. The base doesn’t count. After the end of the movement of your base, you have the option to spawn unit by rolling a D4 die. If you roll 1, it means you can spawn 1 normal unit, roll 2 means you can spawn 2 normal units, roll 3 and you can spawn 3 units and roll 4 means you can spawn a level 2 unit.

Level 2 units - so far level 2 units seems quite overpowered cause it's rather hard to balance it purely base on luck, more balancing would be done.

Basically this game is about strategy. The game is like this thus far. I am still thinking of adding in terrains that add to advantage and disadvantages for different attacks but it would take quite a while to do it.

Balancing the Equation

Balancing the Equation

This game was made based the theme ‘Extinction’ during Global Game Jam 2011.

1st – 3rd Level

I would say that this is an abstract kind of game that you are supposed to figure out yourself and it is quite simple game mechanics. Basically, you are supposed to be something that maintains the balance of the whole game. You would be controlling a black circle that shrinks over time. If you hover near the other black circles, they will enlarge. If you don’t they will shrink and eventually be gone and you would lose the game. Also, if you enlarge the ball till too big that it takes up all the space on your screen, you would also lose due to the black overcoming the white spaces. So the basic idea is to maintain everything in harmony and wait for the time to finish then you will be able to the next stage.

3rd – 6th Level

A new element the grey circle is introduced in these three levels. The size of the grey circle is dependent of the size of the black circle. The bigger the black, the smaller the grey circle will become and vice versa. At the 6th Level of the game which is also the last level, it can’t be completed since that was the intention of the game. It was suppose to bring across the theme ‘Extinction’ and it is show by, no matter how hard you try, your balance will still be offset one day. Game is still going better programmed and more level is going to be added in. Polish to art might be or might not be depending if we can find the good representation of the circles.
